Every day when the sun sets and the world shuts down, there's time for hacking.
But for me, the right music can make or break the hacker vibe.
I thought it would be fun to start a thread where we can share our go-to music for late-night hacking sessions.
Below are some of my favorite bands, songs, and playlists to get the conversation started:
Tycho - Awake
If you haven’t heard of Tycho yet, it’s a must for late-night coding or hacking. Tycho's ambient soundscapes are super chill and non-intrusive, making it easier to
focus for hours. Awake is one of my favorites, with its dreamy synths and relaxing rhythms. It’s like the soundtrack of a productive, yet serene night.
Bonobo - Cirrus
Bonobo’s music blends downtempo, electronica, and world influences in a way that feels both soothing and energizing. Cirrus is perfect when I need to stay in the zone but not feel too hyped up. His tracks often have a nice flow without being too repetitive, making them ideal for long hacking marathons.
Kendrick Lamar - DNA
Sometimes I need a bit more energy to push through tough bugs. Enter Kendrick Lamar. His songs like DNA are packed with energy and intensity, making them great for when I need to power through a late-night sprint. The intricate beats and sharp lyrics help keep my focus sharp.
Lofi Hip Hop Playlists
You can’t talk about coding music without mentioning lo-fi beats. I’m a big fan of the Lofi Hip Hop Radio channels on YouTube (the ones with the chill animation of a girl studying), but I also have a few curated playlists:
Looking forward to discovering some new tunes for my next hacking session.

- "Coding Music" on Spotify – A curated mix of instrumental tracks, mostly ambient and lo-fi, designed for focus.
- "Deep Focus" on Spotify – If you want something a little more ambient, this playlist is full of atmospheric tunes that won't distract you but still keep things interesting.
- "Study Beats" on YouTube – Perfect for background noise while working late into the night, it’s usually a mix of lo-fi, electronic, and instrumental.
Looking forward to discovering some new tunes for my next hacking session.
