The Department of Defense has decided to change its approach to selecting cyber defenders.

The UK Ministry of Defense is launching a program to fast-track the recruitment of cybersecurity specialists to strengthen the country's digital defenses. With an increase in cyberattacks on British military networks, the government is taking action to address the issue. The new initiative will shorten the basic training time for professionals from ten weeks to one month. After this, recruits will undergo three months of specialized training at the Defence Cyber Academy in Shrivenham. The aim is for these specialists to be fully operational by the end of 2025.

The program aims to modernize the armed forces in order to effectively combat modern threats. Successful candidates will be stationed at the digital headquarters in Corsham or join the National Cyber Force. Their role will be to protect critical infrastructure from emerging digital vulnerabilities. By accelerating the recruitment and training of cybersecurity specialists, the Ministry of Defense is taking proactive steps to enhance the security of the country's military networks.

The UK government has announced plans to offer higher salaries to military specialists, with a starting salary of over £40,000 and additional allowances for learning new skills. Starting with the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, the program will later include the Army from early 2026. This is part of the government's efforts to make the military more attractive and has already included substantial salary increases and other measures. The government is also investing in training professionals in England and Northern Ireland to protect information systems from digital threats, with the help of local experts. Additionally, the UK has established the International Coalition for Digital Defense to strengthen global defense against cyberattacks and create more opportunities for specialists in the field. Furthermore, the government is developing regulations to safeguard artificial intelligence systems from attackers, providing clear instructions to companies on the secure development and implementation of neural networks as part of their Plan of Change.

The IS industry currently generates 11.9 billion pounds sterling for the British economy. To attract young people into this field, the country holds special events, such as Cyber Explorers competitions.

And to solve the problem of staff shortage, the government has revised the requirements for candidates. People with certain medical conditions or healed injuries can now join the service if they were not previously eligible.
