I have to disagree, giving insight into one's personality in not something that every artistic work offers. I'm even willing to argue that philosophic works are the only works that can really offer any significant insight. where most artist works focus on capturing a specific fleeting feeling or emotion, philosophic works focus on capturing one's Raison d'être. where emotions and feeling can differ from person to person, a Raison d'être will not. This makes philosophic works way more expressive in my opinion.
