Yeah I got your point thanks for the advice imma now be aiming for combining both

i doubt that any ai will take over jobs in normal companies. ai as it's own is nothing new. blackrock had an ai to analyze stocks since 2011 ig. then don't forget about apple. imo especially it jobs in mid sized companies are safe for the next years. that doesn't mean that you can lean on your knowledge. you always need to improve your skillset.

and to finally answer the question i think cyber security sounds more exciting as it is at the end. people think you sit in front of a green display and just start HaCk lmao.

you still need to document your activities, work very precise and so on.

at the end it's up to you.

if you like math and it then do data science,

if you are more into breaking rules on the internet then cs could be your thing Big Grin

Both are a bit different. Cyber Sec, I would go for. However, with a data science background you can easily power AI Models and likely work with a lot of Py and R. I would suggest Cyber Sec with a programming language or two under your belt, you can do both and power your respective tools with giant datasets and help out with a security first approach in mind. Either way DS like xenxen said will likely be replaced by AI. However, Cyber Sec for now will require humans to oversee it even if an automated model is in place. If money is the goal, Instead of DS I would suggest Quantitative Analysis or a Hedge Fund Trader with automated models etc. You can do these with a DS degree. However, expect to know Pandas in Py and R. Maybe some C++ if you work on the backend.

data science. just don't go to a shit program where graduates go on to becomes "data analysts" instead of "data scientisst"

It's natural to feel lost when making career choices. Consider researching and talking to professionals in both fields to gain more insight and make an informed decision. Checking salaries might also help.

I would also take into account how much of a pigeonhole certain specializations in DS or Cyber Security are. Data engineering and cloud security or DevSecOps are some of the less pigeonholed specs in both fields.

What did you decide to study?

Right now i'm studying information and communication technology and i'm working in parallel, i'm moslty specilizing in data science next year and i will self learn more about the application of data science in cyber security

I think that cyber security does not pay well. Everyone views security as a liability and when cuts are needed it is always the security budget that gets reduces. Data science is more connected to profit. You can give them insights about which moves are going to be more profitable for example. This may help you get more money much sooner than in cyber security. Doing both, although a noble cause, it means you will have to dedicate years to study and learn. You know studies are a means to an end, not the end itself.

Both, but if it must be a choice, then any you feel ok. You can learn the other later on your own

Both are solid choices. Consider job market demand and which topics excite you more. Maybe try some online courses in both to see what clicks?
