ICICI Bank, a leading private bank in India, has admitted to a significant breach involving the exposure of sensitive credit card information belonging to thousands of customers. The breach occurred due to a technical glitch within the bank's mobile banking application, iMobile Pay, resulting in approximately 17,000 new credit cards being erroneously linked to the wrong users. Customers were alarmed when they discovered unfamiliar credit card details, including full card numbers, expiration dates, and CVV codes, within the app.

This incident highlights the importance of robust cybersecurity measures in financial institutions, especially as digital banking becomes increasingly prevalent. It underscores the need for banks to prioritize data protection and ensure the integrity of their mobile banking platforms to safeguard sensitive customer information from unauthorized access and misuse.
