Important news for all.

Hello,

It doesn't matter if you don't have an account on certain services or if you no longer use it, it only takes one of your acquaintances, family members or friends to use it for you to be exposed.

In addition, the account holder may have passed away leaving all the information published. So for a good OPSEC, which everyone talks about but no one says how to start with it, it would be a good solution to review and delete all the accounts created before July 2024, both your own and ask everyone around you to do the same.

So, what thing about this? Is it a good contribution to the community?

Waiting your answers, tips and feedback.

This is not the right section for this kind of thread brother.

Update 1: Which section is the best to put this?

Update 2: What is described in the message is based on common sense. If someone in your environment has something that can identify you, it can affect you both in daily life and in Internet activity. In practice, everyone is exposed and only through Community action can it be resolved. Waiting for suggestions, knowledge, advice, etc, from all of you. Of course, if you want.

Are you saying just start fresh with all accounts or just here?

It can be divided into two groups

The first is to delete all the accounts that have been abandoned or that are not used (it is assumed that the content is also deleted) from the accounts created by family members, friends, etc. The reason is simple, it is no longer enough to simply stop using the profiles created. In addition, it is very likely that there are people in your environment who have forgotten about certain accounts, who are no longer interested in the same things over the years, etc. The most extreme case is that the account holder has passed away. In all the situations mentioned above and those in which there is no common determinant, the exposure of information (a priori innocent) can complicate thousands of people.

The second is to do the same as in the previous point with the accounts themselves.

Obviously, there is the variant that the administrator or site managers have abandoned the maintenance, so the whole system is at risk (As already mentioned in another thread focused on the forums, where too often they leave them without maintenance and exposing millions of information of adults and children). Unfortunately, there are few times when asked to remove it permanently, thus avoiding the exposure of millions of people.

All of the above will only be possible with the sharing of information from those who know the most to others and with community collaboration.

As to the question, it was recently read that they have published the information leaked from the forum (so it is assumed that it will depend on what activity has been done to make the decision to start from scratch with another account created, new or not).

Hello,

Right now, in September 2024 there are leaks. So, is obviously that all account created before on September 2024 should be deleted immediately. And also, help as well as possible the other users to do the same.

Social Media accounts in general are just dangerous to have at this point. In ANY capacity

I totally agree. Still, there is more to it. For example, if the email registered in social networks has also been used for other sites, it is very likely that they are compromised or that they make the mistake of stopping using those applications without the precaution of deleting the account. To that must be added the risk that family members, friends and the closest environment will pass the same thing to them, indirectly compromising you.  In short, until everyone does this job, everyone is at risk.
