Microsoft is taking legal action against a foreign hacking group that misused its Azure AI services to create harmful content.

The group stole customer credentials from public websites to access and alter AI services like Azure OpenAI, bypassing safety measures. They then sold this access to others, providing tools and instructions for generating offensive material.

Microsoft discovered this activity in July 2024, revoked the group's access, strengthened security measures, and obtained a court order to seize a central website used in the operation
