Get a residential proxy or get a sim under another name.
buy a phone number or use sim.
AND THEN sign in on the DESKTOP APP??

As a cummonity we need to find an alternative to telegram, which there is, but why stick with this one?

I see your question and the answer is: historical reason.

After Snowden was just released some apps to have a face-to-face against mass gov surveillance apps.
Telegram was the first big app that were able to face against Whatsapp (Facebook) and Meet (Google) and Skype (Microsoft), so people started exploring Telegram because it was the first "easy-install/easy-use" useful, any other apps was in experimental RC, or not tested enough, or slow, etc..
So Telegram was being big and big and is what is it today

Today we have Tox, but you cant use Tox in celphone and desktop at same time and receive messages because Tox DB is local.
Today we have Matrix, really good option, but people are already accommodated too much to move from Telegram to Matrix, besides, do you trust in Matrix servers?
What app is big, infrastructure stable, client app stable, tested and secure enough to hit face-to-face against TG and WP and no celphone number required?

I trust Telegram!
I've been using the app since its release. When I didn't even knew it was a good app or not!
And over time, I saw that it's cloud based. I can store any data I want there without being worried about it being deleted (Even illegal data (as long as it's not in a public group or channel or...))
So, for me, it has been a great app in terms of security and privacy.
Why would I want an alternative when this app is the best option for me!?

There are many more people like me. They TRUST the app and that's the most important thing an app can have! You can't create an alternative and expect people to trust you right away, and building that trust needs time and money...

Telegram is a useful application and why not someone use it? I also use Telegram and it works like wonders for me. Getting a burner app isn't hard at all, but who can probably go against an app like Telegram.

Telegram encryption keys are held by the company itself.

They DO provide data to feds at will.

Yeah I think the site I use for Discord/Twitter is FelixMerchant, 2 bucks for a verification, piece of cake

The downside being that you cannot access the phone number again (one time use), so 2 factor using SMS is out of the question
