If the goal just is to index onion links like google does on the clear web
i would suggest to just take their code or versions of it (there are a lot BUT they are made for clear web)
and then just modify it to index links with the .onion instead of the other domains.

Yeah onionscan is cool for some features but it really depends what you want to do with those Onion links
