same feeling here. Really didn't like it atfirst. I found it to be a huge learning curve but once it clicks. Everything starts coming together and it becomes like little pieces to a big puzzle. And like you said you start wanting to learn more and it becomes really enjoyable. But yeah just the idea of creating something from scratch that is yours, there's something really special about that.

But also, I feel like coding will come in a person's own time. My dad literally couldn't pay me to code a project. He literally offered me money if I learned how to build a website but I just couldn't do it. Whereas today that would've been the easiest money I ever made, back then it felt like climbing a mountain. I eventually went to school for comp sci but even then, the understanding of concepts didn't come to me until my second last year. So basically all in due time. He'll find his way to programming eventually. We all do!

I remember skidding a RuneScape Private server. It was written in Java and just simple words would add and differ things in the game. That actually made me want to learn more about this stuff

I started coding because of neopets and those stick figure flash games. I wanted to make my own browser games, so I downloaded Flash and started fucking around with coding in that.

Turns out that coding was only one part of the puzzle though, and I still had to do all the graphics and sound design. Fuck that shit lol

Videogames mostly and and an interest in maths. Also various sci-fi movies where robots gain conciousness and whatnot.

Scratch could be a good way for him to get into basic programming concepts. Also checkout Roblox Lua maybe?

Seeing projects made by kids his own age on these platforms might be motivational.

My inspiration has been a drive to access the deep part of the internet and be where either government or all wouldn't normally want someone to be. I have tried and still have not learned how to program. I'm good at learning with a team, but lately, I have become an introvert and gone beyond having friends to speak to. I still want to learn how to program and write codes.

I started in ethical (and not ethical) hacking as a child.

Some courses explain the basics: information gathering, vulnerability scanning, Metasploit, SQLmap, etc.
These are useful tools, but in my opinion, you need to know what you’re doing and develop a solid problem solving skillset for pentesting.

If you know how to code, you can understand more concepts and create custom tools, moving beyond being a script kiddie.

Later, I began creating AI (LLMs) based apps with custom models for different businesses. It’s impossible to do a good job without coding.

My initial motivation was hacking to feel like god hahaha and to earn money with AI.

However, I discovered a complex but fantastic world, and now it’s a hobby for me.
