Is the universe really random?

As most of you probably know computers are incapable of generating random numbers. There are pseudo random number generation (PRNG) algorithms like the mersenne twister which can be used to simulate randomness on a computer. In a physics engine, if a glass pane is shattered on the ground its shards scatter in a seemingly random way but in reality it is predictable and you are able to predetermine the spread if you have a computer program which has knowledge of all the present variables and the functions in which they are applied.

Most people agree that this is not true for real life because of entropy, but some theories like chaos theory suggest that it is possible that the reality is that there are too many variables for us to account for, and that everything is in fact deterministic.

What do you guys think?

I think that the universe is like a large neuron with thousands of branches, I don't believe that something happens by chance, but rather that everything is predictable, we just haven't reached that level of deduction to understand the universe yet ...

100% absolute chaos mate, that's why things like 'Fate' or 'Destiny' aren't real, but in fact human constructs to add meaning to an otherwise random and accidental existence
"Universal appeal is poison masquerading as medicine. Horror is not meant to be universal. It's meant to be personal, private, animal"

yes very random with the atoms and shit

I think all things could be predicted like you said if we knew all the variables

Everything is chaos. The only way to make sense of it all is for humans to devote to religion, faith, belief etc.

Honestly, I believe that only random thing in the universe is life, everything else is deterministic

Of course it is not random! It is all coded in a program and we are all living in the Matrix mate

I agree, probably we are in a simulation brother. Random or not, its a simulation! xDDD
