If you had to learn penetration testing/redteaming from the beginning, how would you?

Pay more attention to sniffer tools that view network packets, and learn how networks work.

So many things are baffling to me. DNS tunneling to bypass security. And reverse shells. It took me way too long before I figured out how to do those in my sleep.

And learn python. People make fun of Perl.

Do the beginner learn path on tryhackme, its an easy guided way to learn, but you need motivation, time and some part arent free :

it's my path but there are 1 billion other paths, there are plenty of good courses on the internet, 
which you can find easily, I also believe I have seen a leak from the CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker ) you should I was a look at the site via search.

getting hands on with things like tryhackme and other labs are what make the biggest difference in my experience, whether its basic IT or more advanced topics. some certs can be good for building knowledge but you want to find things that will actually challenge you and make you go thru the process. not just remember a bunch of random shit on an exam you might never take.

I would use Tryhackme and Hackthebox to learn but start on Tryhackme because its way more beginner friendly i would say
