Hello, forum members!
I'd like to kick off an interesting discussion about a topic that has been the subject of many questions and curiosities lately: is it easy to become a Red Team Pen Tester?
For those who aren't familiar with the term, a Red Team Pen Tester is a cybersecurity expert who simulates hacker attacks to assess the security of systems and networks. While this profession is exciting and full of challenges, it also requires substantial technical skills and a deep understanding of intrusion techniques.
Many people wonder if it's easy to break into this field. The truth is, while it is possible, it takes a considerable amount of dedication, continuous learning, and hands-on experience. Cybersecurity, in general, demands a strong foundation in computer science, networking, and programming, along with a passion for problem-solving and staying updated with the ever-evolving threat landscape.
One of the key aspects of becoming a successful Red Team Pen Tester is the mindset. It's not just about knowing how to exploit vulnerabilities but also about thinking creatively and critically, anticipating the moves of adversaries, and understanding the business context behind security decisions.
Additionally, certifications like Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) can provide valuable knowledge and credibility in the field.
While it might not be easy, the journey to becoming a Red Team Pen Tester is undoubtedly rewarding. It offers the opportunity to make a real impact in the world of cybersecurity, contribute to enhancing digital defenses, and stay one step ahead of cyber threats.
Let's hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic! Have you embarked on the path of becoming a Red Team Pen Tester, or are you considering it? What challenges have you faced, and what advice do you have for aspiring professionals?

Had an offer in a pretty good firm but tbh doing HTB or others CTF is really not the same as doing it pro. It quickly become boring + writing reports all the time makes you want to hang yourself.

You're probably better off elsewhere in the industry, you can always manage time for side projects.

Entering the field of Pentesting is an exciting and rewarding journey, although it is accompanied by the need for considerable commitment and a continuous drive to gain knowledge and experience. At times, you may feel frustrated by being confronted with unfamiliar concepts, but as you immerse yourself in practice and study, you have the opportunity to become a great Pentester. Remember that technology is constantly advancing, with new attack vectors appearing daily, you must keep pace with the technology.

If you can hack stuff, then you deserve the moniker. Hacking is a broad spectrum anyway
