what kind of genre do you like? for example, what kind of movies do you usually watch, what is your favorite one? if it is action, superpowers, romance, etc, based on that you could see what kind of anime you might like

I will always recommend Yu Yu Hakusho, its an older anime, but its been one of my favorites my whole life. but a lot of it comes down to what you are looking for, recommending shonen when you want a more cerebral show isnt going to help at all

For starters, try:

Attack on Titan: Action-packed with an epic story.
My Hero Academia: Fun and easy to follow superhero vibes.
Death Note: A smart thriller with a great plot twist.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: Balanced action, story, and emotions.
Which genres do you like? I can suggest more based on that!

Start with shorter series or movies: Some anime can be long; movies or 12-episode series are less overwhelming.

Sub vs. Dub: Choose based on preference. Both options are great, but some anime have exceptional dubs.

Explore different genres: Anime covers a wide range of themes—try a few to see what you enjoy most.

Let me know which genre intrigues you, and I can suggest more specific titles!

Classics are fine for starters
Candy Candy
Nobody's Boy: Remi
Mazinger Z
Urusei Yatsura
Sailor Moon

But if you want something more from these days the options up there are also fine.
Would add the remake of Captain Tsubasa from 2018
Or something like K-ON! of Hibike Euphonium.
