Highlighting Iran-Israel Tensions: Analyst Warns of Escalation Towards World War III
“Understanding the Dynamics: Iran-Israel Tensions and the Specter of Global Conflict”
Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated, raising concerns among analysts about the potential for a broader conflict that could spiral into World War III, especially with the backing of major powers like the United States.
The tension sparked when Israel attacked the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria, on April 1, 2024.
Iran retaliated by launching dozens of drones and ballistic missiles into Israel on Saturday night, April 13, 2024.
“If the US continues to support Israel in retaliatory strikes against Iran, it is not impossible for other countries like North Korea and Russia to assist Iran,” warned analysts.
“The conflict in the Middle East could escalate, leading to World War III, which would undoubtedly harm all humanity.”
World nations are poised to condemn the US stance, which has declared support for Israel if Iran continues its attacks.
Meanwhile, Iran justified its retaliation against Israel based on the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
This concept has also been utilized by Israel in its attacks on Hamas in Gaza until now.
The Indonesian government needs to intervene to ensure that attacks in Iran and Israel, as well as Israeli attacks on Gaza, are halted.
Firstly, according to experts, the Indonesian government could request an emergency session of the UN Security Council regarding Israel’s attack on the Iranian Embassy.
“If necessary, it should initiate the drafting of a General Assembly resolution condemning Israel’s actions.”
Secondly, engaging in shuttle diplomacy with the United States and several European countries to discourage support for Israel’s actions is crucial.
These nations should set an example by adhering to international law.
“Thirdly, urging the people and governments worldwide to push for the Israeli public and opposition to remove PM Netanyahu, considering that attacks on Gaza and Iran can only be halted by anyone other than Benjamin Netanyahu serving as prime minister.”
